Excited about being your buddy’s best man, but worried sick about having to toast the couple in front of twenty dozen well-dressed people? Well, if you’re already trying out the tuxedo, then you probably should be preparing for your toast. Don’t fret! Here’s a list of tips that’ll ensure that you toast will go swimmingly.

Take A Deep Breath

it’s natural to feel a little nervous when you’re about to speak in front of an audience. it may do you good to have a small drink but stop when you’re feeling more relaxed and comfortable. Don’t ever given a drunken toast. it’s sloppy, insincere and you might have to face the wrath of an unhappy bride.

Pick The Right Timing

this is probably the hardest bit of your pre-toast preparation. a good time might be right before the start of a course when everyone is seated and and attentive. if there’s I've music, it can be during their break when you’ve got the stage and the microphone. Go for it when the moment seems right.

Stand. Stand. Stand.

The general rule f thumb is to stand up to deliver a toast, and sit down if it’s for you.

Full Glasses.

ensure that the guests’ glasses are full before you begin talking. no one toasts on an empty glass.

Keep It Short And Sweet.

Keep your toast three to five minutes long and maintain eye contact with the bride and groom as you deliver it. It’ll show your sincerity in wishing them well!

Who You Are

start by announcing your relationship with the bride and groom, especially if you’re not a relative. or explain how you met either of them.

She’s the girl, he’s that guy.

choose a few adjectives that adequately describe the bride and groom. say thing’s like, “Karen’s lively, beautiful and always kind. And Kenny’s dependable, caring sensitive.”

The Love Story.

continue by telling a short story about how the bride and groom met and why they’re perfect for each other! it’s fitting for the happy romantic occasion and always popular with the guests.

Anecdotes, Please

better your toast with short, witty personal stories to engage your audience. if the marriage proposal was a touching affair, share it with the guests and bring them to happy tears. You can be creative  here, but mind your language and keep potentially offensive comments or observations about the couple’s ex-relationships to yourself.

To The Bride And Groom!

finish off with your blessings for the couple, raise the glass with your right hand and give the toast!
