Do you know where are the best places to shop in Singapore? Here is a list of affordable shopping places for you to shop on a budget, brought to you by Goru. Goru is an amazing travel app for tourists in Singapore that has been created by Starhub.
Let's dive straight into where you will find affordable loots:
1. Mustafa Shopping Centre
Address: 145 Syed Alwi Road, Singapore 207704
Located in Little India, Mustafa Shopping Centre sells really affordable food, tidbits, apparels and more. It sells more than 300,000 items and opens 24 hours a day. The Mustafa Shopping centre is split into 2 shopping malls: one retailing jewellery, household appliances and items you can find it a supermarket, and the other selling products like books and clothes.
I would highly recommend Mustafa to anyone who is looking to purchase household items at a cheap price! The reason for its popularity? Its cheap price tag and the wide variety of goods available for sale.
2. Bugis Street
Address: 3 New Bugis St, 188867
I love scouring Bugis Street for great bargains. Here you can find many fashionable clothes for both males and females for as cheap as SGD $5 - $15. Bugis Street is really popular with many Singaporean teenagers. In fact, it is a popular wholesale destination for enterprising teenagers who run blogshops that sell clothes. It is located right next to Bugis MRT, so getting to Bugis Street is extremely convenient.
It is also located near Bugis Junction (a shopping mall), so you can always head to the nearby malls for a second round of shopping.
3. Thieves Market
Address: Sungei Rd, Singapore 208785
The Thieves Market is Singapore's oldest and largest flea market. It is a rent-free hawking zone that has been around since the Japanese Occupation. Most that browse the Thieves Market are people on a tight budget looking to score great buys. Don't worry, there aren't any thieves there!
Instead, second-hand household items are sold here. The Thieves Market is more than just a flea market - it is also a tourist attraction and a part of Singapore's history. Sadly, the Thieves Market will be closed in 2017, when the land it stands on will be returned to the government to construct the brand new Sungei Buloh MRT.
4. Far East Plaza
Address: 14 Scotts Road, 228213
Opened in 1982, Far East Plaza is a shopping mall located in the heart of Orchard Road. This shopping mall is a treasure chest of young and fashionable clothing and beauty salons. While beauty and fashion are the main focus of this mall, there are also a couple of Korean and Japanese restaurants.
It attracts the young, the young at heart, as well as foreigners. This used to be a very popular hangout place for teenagers but it has since fallen out of favour. There are still great deals to be found here though!
5. City Plaza
Address: 810 Geylang Road, 409286
While City Plaza may look dilapidated from the outside, what's inside is definitely worth a visit. You'll find a lot of clothes, cosmetics, shoes, hair salons and more at really great prices. It is minutes away from the nearest MRT stations, Paya Lebar MRT and Dakota MRT.
There are also a lot of sumptuous food stalls for you to try there. This is an awesome place for fooding and shopping at the same time. Go to the City Plaza and check it out yourself!
6. Lucky Plaza
Address: 304 Orchard Road, 238863
Lucky Plaza is a mall located at Orchard Road. Despite being at Orchard Road, where most buys are relatively expensive. Lucky Plaza houses many stores that sell really affordable clothes and shoes that are really fashionable. You can also get really cheap souvenirs here to bring back for your loved ones.
Every weekend, there is a secondhand flea occurring on the 6th story by locals. They sell affordable brand new goods, and second-hand apparels at really cheap prices. Avoid going on Sundays as the Filipino community in Singapore will congregate at Lucky Plaza on that day, unless you love a crowd!
Address: IMM Building 2 Jurong East Street 21 Singapore 609601
Located in the West, IMM is Singapore's largest outlet mall. With more than 80 outlet stores, visitors can get more than 80% off normal retail prices here. You'll find many well-known and recognized brands here, such as: Cotton On, Kappa, Esprit, G2000, Calvin Klein, Desigual, Juicy Couture, Triumph, Nike, Adidas, Converse, New Balance, Charles & Keith, Cole, Crocs, Coach etc.
If you're looking to score high quality goods at a huge bargain, head over to IMM!
