"upgraded" to super choppy slow Fibre Broadband ???

Hello!

We just moved house and utilised the free upgrade to Fibre Broadband from our normal cable internet. This morning the light on the tower was green (yay) so we connected... must to our dismay!!

The internet keeps cutting off every 5 minutes, everything is super slow... web browser doesn't open instantly and something that takes 1 min to download is taking an ETA of... 1 week!!!!

Needless to say I am writing this on my cable broadband which I still have, but only for a short period of overlap time.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? If this is normal I need it back to my cable broadband asap!

Thanks!

Hi Mikomouse

Able to advise where is the router located? If its located in living room and you are accessing from your bedroom, the user experience varies.

You can read more on wireless over at http://www.starhub.com/personal/support/broadband/home-broadband/broadband-101/wireless-technologies...

the router is located on our tv cabinet in the living room, and we are trying to use the internet on our laptop 2 metres away from it on the couch....

Can i suggest you to connect via wired, do a bandwidth test over at http://broadbandspeedtest.starhub.com/speedtest/ ?

Do it 2 ways:

1. Bypass router
2. With router

Need to know if there is any issue with network or hardware.

Thank you
