Why my ip address does not change even after turning off my router and veont overnight?

I tried turning off the my router and veont overnight three times but My ip adress still does not change.

I would also want to ask, why is my ip address different when i connect to the router (lan cable/ wifi) and veont (lan cable) directly?

Hi  @Renz

Sometimes the existing IP in the router is still available.

Method:

Switch off both router & ONT.

Also disable all the devices, such as; mobile handset, computers, etc; are turn off the wireless & wired which may retain the existing IP.

Switch on only ONT first, and wait a couple of minutes, let the "PON" on the ONT green light is stable.

Then turn on the router, which also may take a couple of minutes.

Then finally turn on the devices via wireless & wired, one at a time.

If it did not work, then before switching off the router, use a pin to press+Hold the reset button for about 15 seconds, then switch off.

Contiune the process as mentioned above.

Hi  @Renz

Basically, if you did not make any change in the router settings, there should not be an issue, such as; IP.

Refer to this link post by Ah-Pin-Kor > intermittent disconnection

I never do any changes in the router setting, and have no issue in changing IP.

To find you IP address, link to  > Starhub Local Speedtest

The actual IP Address is stated on the below the charts;  Client:

Starhub do not provide static /permanent IP Address.

Unless you have make prior notice.

Other methods are such as;

*  Pull out the yellow fibre cable from both TP and ONT, to break the connection, carefully holding both the green end.

If still unable to change then, if possible, do replace it and make sure that you have to tell the Accessories shop staff is that for Starhub Fibre Broadband.

The staff of the Accessories shop in Sim Lim Square told me about the differences.

*  Change the LAN cable to Cat6 if you are subscribe to 1Gbps (assumed).

As the technician told me that Cat6 support for 1Gbps is much better.

Of course there are different views on this.
