CABLE/TV POINT

Hi,

need some help.

I currently have a scv point in my living hall and 1 bedroom.

I now would like to install the points for my other bedrooms. Just wondering if there is any difference in tv point and cable point? Or is just 1 same point which i can use for both tv and cable internet?

Any one has any idea the installation charges for 2 points and will be be troublesome as it is an old flat.

thanks!

Re: CABLE/TV POINT

Hi,

For SCV cable coaxial point, it is mainly for TV and Cable TV Set Top box usage.

Internet cable is using ethernet cable RJ45 connector.

Hence both SCV and Ethernet cables are both different points.

For using IPTV, internet cable set top box, it using ethernet cable only which is the same as for internet usage.

IPTV and Internet have to be on different connector.

As IPTV is connect direct to Fibre ONT/modem port which is separate port from for internet usage.

For Internet cabling and if there is a need to be wired up.

This is known as trucking and this run along the walls like skirting.

It is a straightforward and simple which would not include any hacking of walls.

Starhub do charge $107 incl 7% gst, for 1 connection from point A to B.

It do include ethernet cables and data points at both end.

Usually the length is inclusive as part of standard HDB flat.

For more jobs you can discuss on the pricing with the contractor before the work begin.

Other contractors pricing are about the same.

But do note that some contractors may not be familiar with internet wiring.

For this i had experienced it as my renovation contractor did failed in this task.

Hence i had to seek Starhub contractor to redo my internet cabling issues.

i am not starhub staff.

Re: CABLE/TV POINT

Hi,

Starhub do have their contractor in handling cabling works for both ethernet and coaxial cables.

This is usually done by means of trunking.

Btw it is better to upgrade to IPTV instead.

As Cable TV may sooner or later would be ceased as this include cable broadband.

IPTV do have more features and benefit over cable.

But in order to subscribe IPTV it required Fibre Broadband subscription.
