Hacks To Improve Your Home Wi-Fi Signal
Do you sometimes experience intermittent wi-fi connection in your home? Are there blind spots in your home where there is no wi-fi signal at all?
Before you start punching walls, throwing things or heading out to buy a brand new router or wi-fi extenders, finish this article!
We have two DIY wi-fi hacks for you to try out to improve your home wi-fi coverage.
HACK 1: Find your center and get high.
Find the most centralised area in your home and position your router as high as the cable allows. Remember, the higher the better! This allows the wi-fi signal to propagate better and your devices should be able to receive better wi-fi connection as the motion of waves always drops down to the floor.
For those who live in multi-storey homes, apply the same method to each level to get stronger signals on every floor. This is because, for every router there is a limit. If the router exceeds the optimum distance, the strength of the wifi may not be as strong in the end.
HACK 2: Keep items that may interfere with wi-fi signal away from your router.
You might not have known this, but there are many items in your household that may mess with your wi-fi signal. Some of these objects include:
- Microwave ovens
- Cordless phones
- Fish tanks
If the coverage still does not improve, it maybe due to wireless limitation. At that point, do consider getting additional routers with data points or get a Wi-Fi assessment.
