#MondayMusic: Monday Morning Songs to Motivate You
Monday morning – The first day back to work. The dreaded day of the week. This day usually means no more relaxing and resting, no more hanging out with family and friends. Let’s all be honest, Mondays really suck. It feels like you have to wait four years for the next weekend. Hopefully, these songs on this list will help you get through your Manic Mondays. So turn up the volume and let’s get your week started!
Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
A calming and positive song is the best way to start your Monday. English rock band The Beatles released this song for their 1969 album entitled “Abbey Road.” Interestingly, George Harrison wrote this after attending rounds of meetings (which he hated), since The Beatles had to handle their accounting and business affairs following the death of their manager Brian Epstein.
Beautiful Day – U2
Irish rock band U2 conveys just about everything we could be feeling every Monday (because you know Monday signals the end of fun and the start of having responsibilities again) but the song also reminds us that it’s a beautiful day anyway. Surprisingly, the song has become one of the band’s greatest hit of all time. Indeed, this is guaranteed to put you on a good mood for the rest of the week.
Manic Monday – The Bangles
A classic on its own right, this song expresses exactly how we feel when we wake up on Monday morning and ponder about the meaning to life. Lyrically, it describes a woman who wakes up to go to work on Monday, wishing it was still Sunday so she could continue relaxing. American pop-rock band The Bangles released this on their second studio album, Different Light (1986). In fact, American musician Prince wrote the song which was originally intended for the group Apollonia 6.
Happy – Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams, who was formerly the N.E.R.D lead vocalist and Neptunes producer, wrote and recorded this song. Even though it is repetitive. Come on the song title has been mentioned 56 times, more than 62% of the song is dedicated to its memorable chorus. But still, the song is uplifting and interesting. This has probably been stuck to your head after hearing it.
Work B*itch – Britney Spears
If you’re dreaming about the things you want in life, you must work for it before you see the results of your hard work. Like what the song pertains. But let’s be honest the lyrics aren’t considered poetic or something, yet it is uplifting and positive. Basically, the lyrics are simple enough to make you smile and to sing along to. So, if this song can't give you that much-needed push to work, I honestly don't know what will.
