High Latency in World of Warcraft

High Latency in World of Warcraft

Hi Starhub,

 

Recently these past few days most players I know using Starhub as their ISP (including me) have been experiencing unreasonably high latency while playing (ranges from 6k-10k ms type of lag). We've posted on the World of Warcraft forums to see if they could diagnose the issue but to not much success. Every other Internet function seems to be working fine (other online games, surfing the net, etc. all still smooth), however it is only when in World of Warcraft we seem to be encountering an issue. Is there something you could look into regarding the issue? Only Starhub users seem to be encountering the issue as other players using other ISPs seem to be fine. Will link my winMTR test below for further evidence to look into

Hi. Singaporean ping has been really unstable lately (all my other singaporean friends have been undergoing this issue as well, regardless of ISP).  Whether this is an issue on Blizzard side or the ISP, I really don’t know, it’s just been frustrating to have to sit out and not do a lot of my weekly content cos of the unreliable ping. Here’s my WinMTR from earlier with lots of lag spikes

Have you tested the connection using a LAN cable to your laptop/PC at www.starhub.com/personal/support/device-trouble-shooting/broadband/perform-speed-test.html to see if the issues recur after a restart of your modem/ONT and router?

Why is no one answering my private messages. You guys asked me to send them. I habe but then get no reply.

 

Last nught I worked out that you have probably provided me with a faulty router as the hardline ports are capped at 100mbps (1 and 2) and 10mbps (3 and 4).

 

This is even after doing a full factory reset on the router.

 

Further the ingame lag was still present at 3am as I was running my tests.

I am also playing Oceanic - Barthilas realm. I used to get around 90-98ms but now is like 150-160ms which is pretty bad. My friend who uses different ISP is not having the same issue. So, I don't think it is the problem from game server.

 

I've posted the same questions few months back then, but it magically works again after I posted. Since the lag spike is very consistent now, we cannot even do things in game at all...

 

If this is not gonna fixed, I have no choice but to switch to another ISP even before my contact is ended as the reason I apply for fibre broadband is to play World of Warcraft mostly. I am paying $39.99 for 1Gpbs to suffer all these? 

 

Don't ask back stupid questions as you can just download and play trial on World of Warcraft until level 20 for latency test.

Hopefully this gets something moving.

They won't do anything. 

 

It's happening with all ISP's that have that new cable deal with Telstra. MyRepublic/M1/StarHub/SingTel. 

 

All of the above ISP's are almost doubling the latency we used to have. From SG to Aus we used to be able to get anywhere from 80-90ms. Currently I sit at 170-180 since their new cable. 

 

Same answer every time "our engineer's don't see a proble" or "You are already on the best route to host isp". 

 

Have sent in multiple WinMTR's and Trace Routes as well, still nothing.

I gave up today. I bought a sub to Nord VPN and now have a ping of 93....No
lag no disconnects. Sadly I doubt Starhub will pay the cost of having to
get the service just to make their service work....
