One Thing You Can Do for Better Health
"Never waste a good crisis" - Winston Churchill
During this second "lockdown", it is easy to fall into despair. Why not seize the opportunity to improve one's health? Here are some easy to do ideas to improve one's health.
- 20 minute brisk walk - Do a brisk 20 minute walk first thing in the morning. Benefits include fat burning, increase metabolism and more importantly improves one's mood! Do another 20 minutes during lunch time for better results!
- Push ups and squats - Want to help one's brain? Include push ups and squats after the brisk walk. This will improve brain function. Tip: Start slowly and do not over do it. There is nothing more demotivating than sore muscles.
- Stand on one leg - Yes, you heard that right. Stand on one leg for a minute. Then switch. Too easy? Close one's eyes and attempt again. This will improve one's balance which deteriorates with age. This reduces the risk of falls. Tip: To minimize injury, attempt this within reach of a sturdy hand rail or table. As with all exercises, build up gradually. Do this a few times a day. This is ideal for working from home e.g. take a break every hour and stand on one leg.
So get started now and take advantage of this crisis to improve one's health!
