Did you know StarHub has joined the Green Movement?
StarHub recognizes that climate change is a problem. We believe that we need to act in a responsible manner, throughout our operations to minimise our overall impact on the environment.
And to support Singapore’s Smart Nation and circular economy vision, we have introduced green initiatives for sustainable and responsible practices, green marketing strategies and efforts to educate and raise awareness amongst our employees and community.
Green Technology Innovations
The first solar-powered mobile Base Transmission Station (BTS) in Singapore was deployed on the roof of StarHub’s main office, StarHub Green in 2009. There is also another BTS located on the IKEA building at Alexandra Road.
StarHub also introduced in 2010 the Mobile ‘Greenergy’ vehicle, which is Singapore’s first solar-powered cellular BTS-enabled vehicle. This uses four solar panels and a bank of rechargeable batteries which could power mobile communications for a 500m wide area for at least eight hours. Moreover, this Mobile ‘Greenergy’ vehicle enabled us to boost our mobile signal strength using renewable energy.
In 2009, StarHub relocated its corporate office to the StarHub Green building at Ubi from its previous office location at Cuppage. StarHub Green practices saving energy using motion-sensor activated lighting in offices after normal working hours. In 2016, StarHub Green was awarded the Green Mark Gold by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) recognizing its best practices in environmental design and performance of its building. Moreover, it was also certified as an Eco Office by the Singapore Environment Council in 2018.
StarHub has implemented these initiatives to reduce its dependence and production of printed material for its marketing efforts.

RENEW (REcycling the Nation’s Electronic Waste)
StarHub launched on Earth Hour in 2012 its flagship e-waste recycling programme called RENEW which encourages everyone to dispose of their e-waste in a responsible manner. StarHub has partnered with DHL and TES for this programme with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) and the National Environment Agency (NEA). Through this, you can recycle almost any electronic products in the RENEW bins located in more than 400 locations around Singapore.
Important notice: StarHub's RENEW programme has come to an end in July 2021. You can continue to drop off your e-waste for recycling through the Government’s new e-waste collection system. More information about collection locations will be available soon.
Moreover, e-waste recycling bins will continue to be available at StarHub Shops in Plaza Singapura and Tampines Mall. Consumers can drop in their spoilt or deprecated devices, including phones, modems, routers, li-ion batteries and charging cables. Learn more about our new e-waste programme.
