Why does my Samsung S3 LTE not show the LTE icon?

I am in the CBD area and I regularly see the 4G icon on top of my Samsung Galaxy S3. Unfortunately, I have not seen the LTE icon even once.

 

I recently joined StarHub and I am on the SmartSurf plan.

 

Any ideas anyone?

Btw, I did some research on Google and it seems that there is an LTE icon that will show up if you are connected to LTE on a Galaxy S3.

 

4G in some contexts can be considered to be HSPA+ but there is an H+ icon that shows up when on that network.

 

So in simple terms my question is whether the 4G icon implies I am on an LTE network? Or should I actually see an LTE icon? :smileyhappy:

We have clarified with Samsung. You will be seeing 4G which is referring to LTE.

I think in models shipped to other geographical locations, the icon is LTE. I guess for Singapore there is only one icon.

That might be the case as the build number is different for each region.
